Aberystwyth Weather Coldest In 30 Years

Posted by Llanrhystud Childminder On Thursday, January 07, 2010

After an evening of light snow and freezing temperatures Aberystwyth and the rest of Wales awakes to sunshine!

Although Aber did not see a great deal of snow, inland saw snow lying up to 8 inches deep, no wonder town seemed very quiet with very little early morning traffic, town resembled a ghost town with very few commuters and shoppers. Schools throughout Ceredigion closed as many found the weather conditions difficult.

With another big freeze tonight temperatures could hit lows of -8, leaving driving conditions treacherous for the morning. With further cold weather forecast the winter of 2010 will be the coldest in 30 years.

Brrr... it was freezing last night! On the radio I heard somewhere near Rhyader their was a recorded temperature of -20. Forecast predict another two weeks of this, possibly more snow this weekend.
