On Wednesday, engineers will attempt to circulate a beam of particles around the 27km-long underground tunnel which houses the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).The £5bn machine is designed to smash particles together with cataclysmic force, revealing signs of new physics in the wreckage.

Raglan Castle built in the fifteenth-century by Sir William ap Thomas and his son William Herbert, later remodelled by William Somerset the third earl of Worcester, 1549-89.

Despite attempts of demolition during the Civil War, much of the hexagonal-shaped Great Tower and state apartments still survive today.
