Wales, uniquely in the UK, has no training facilities and student vets are forced to study elsewhere despite the importance of agriculture to the Welsh economy. The need for skilled vets has been highlighted by recent disease outbreaks and there are concerns the profession is unable to fill posts without employing foreign practitioners.
